Myron Zucker, Inc. has reintroduced the
LiveCal™ as a standard product offering. Previously offered as a custom application, the series has the features of the
Calmount® with a factory-installed contactor.
The LiveCal™ system is most commonly applied to motors using reduced voltage starters. These typically include soft starters, wye-delta starters, and part winding starters. If capacitors are connected during the starting sequence of a reduced voltage starter, problems such as nuisance fuse-blowing and premature capacitor failure can occur. It is important to keep the capacitors disconnected until the starting sequence is complete.
The LiveCal™ controls the connection of the capacitor. During the starting sequence, the contactor is kept open, which isolates and protects the capacitor. Once the motor is at speed, the contactor is closed and the capacitor is energized.
MZI Engineers recommend this system for use with reduced voltage starts, reversing motors, frequently jogged motors, and multispeed motors, or wherever a time delay is necessary.
The LiveCal™ is available at 240, 480, or 600 Volts and 60Hz, though other voltages and frequencies may be available upon request. There are two models available:
- KNM Model: blown fuse indication
- Indication light illuminates on outisde of enclosure when corresponding fuse has blown
- KPM Model: fusing without indication
